Its been a strange paced summer that technically began a bit - TopicsExpress

Its been a strange paced summer that technically began a bit earlier with the blockbusters. There have been only a few here and there that really popped and werent about just gimmicks and laughs, but actually had some thought and even something to say. Mind you, I still have yet to see The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and even Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. However, I already have rather low reservations. Now that the summer is already dying down, I finally had the opportunity to watch Guardians of the Galaxy. So much anticipation and build up led to this moment in time, and to say it quite modestly, it didnt disappoint. Where The Avengers might be the popular crowd in Marvels line of characters, but Guardians of the Galaxy are the oddballs and misfits. Perhaps on a rather extreme level, theyre relatable, to a degree. The rejects and the undesirables team up to bring us another masterful chapter in Marvel Studios epic comic saga. James Gunn (director of Slither and Super) really blew this one out of the water with major strides tackling a rather tricky realm here. Where his resume might have you scratching your heads, this wouldnt be the first time where Marvel has made a strange director hire that delivered (ex: Captain America: The Winter Soldier). It seems that everything is awesome for Chris Pratt this year. Earlier this year, he was a lead character in the animated movie The Lego Movie, and now, Guardians of the Galaxy. Just a few years ago, he was a couch dwelling, tent living, but loveable idiot on Parks and Recreation. As the years have progressed, so has his resume. Hes come out in Oscar nominated films such as Moneyball and Zero Dark Thirty. Perhaps not the obvious choice for this movie, it was just kismet nonetheless. This goes for the rest of the cast. They just meshed perfectly together. For the most part, the movie is stolen by Vin and Bradley, two animated characters. One that talks too much (Rocket--Bradley Cooper) and one that says only three words in a specific arrangement, I am Groot (Vin Diesel). In my eyes, theyre neck and neck as my favorite characters in the film. Overall, it was down right fun! Fueled with striking visuals, action and humor, this galactic sci-fi flick is quite the gem, a rather specific one. Yes, the laughs are REAL! This is a bold frontier for Marvel Studios, and they strut it out with style, a strange kind. What a grand close to the summer blockbusters of this year! Honestly, I cant wait to watch it again in theaters :D youtu.be/aHUBlv5_K8Y
