Its been a while since my last update on Colleen, sorry about that. Colleen completed her first week of chemo last week and her first week of radiation this week. The chemo was off to a rocky start with all the nausea. She has one more week before the next round of chemo and hopefully the nausea will be under better control. The radiation treatments are long and uncomfortable since they are treating 5 major areas. At least she has complete 5 of 12 treatment and hopefully we will get some good news. Colleens hair is not looking so good and we are planning a head trimming party on Sunday. She has also lost quite a bit of weight due to the nausea and other complications. I know this will be a tough weekend but at least we will have some good family time tomorrow. We are halfway through the first month of treatment since Colleen was diagnosed with stage 4 Merkel cell cancer. It will be a couple of more weeks before we have some idea if this aggressive approach is doing any good at all. We are tired but hopeful that some better days are on the way. This experience has definitely changed us both. The physical signs are easy to see and this terrible disease takes a toll on both of us. Emotionally, we are just taking it one day at a time. I had a dear friend treat me to a massage last weekend to help me deal with some of the stress that I have been under. It was a nice break even if it was only for a while. Colleen draws her strength from frequent communication with her family. Her parents and her youngest son Stevie have been in daily contact with her. That medicine seems to work better than any drug. Our love for each other and our faith in God is what gets us through the days. When we think about what could happen in the future, we are sometimes sad and afraid so we just leave that in Gods hands with the faith that He will never give us any trial without the grace to endure. Her health and our future is completely in Gods hands since the doctors are doing everything they can.
