Its been a whooping three days of online absence thanks to three - TopicsExpress

Its been a whooping three days of online absence thanks to three reasons. The gadget. The coffee hour and the fatigue. Yes, this electronic device decided to just stare at me for a whole 24hrs! And dont ask me why I didnt remove the battery. It doesnt have one. And if it does, I have never seen it. Its called hanging! Damn boring. And then the coffee hour hosted ahead of the blog launch was too successful, it left me speechless. I am yet to find a better word to describe the amazing signal. And finally the fatigue. I went to lake bogoria via the Nyalilbuch viewpoint. You have never been here. On Saturday. We took the road less travelled and found ourselves on the bottom of the lake. You better be planning to take this challenge. Its a hike of a lifetime. Via the Mogotio-Kisanana- Kapnoskei route. I met Kamuren the two year old boy who refused to take a bribe!!! He refused to tell us his name and declined to pose for a photo. He looked away and when I insisted and handed out a 20shilling coin, he declined to take it. Kamuren!!!! And you should have seen Kamuren. Short, barefooted, dirty. He had a lump of thick mucus on his nose. He was holding a blue feeding bottle on his hand. It belonged to his brother who was asleep on his sisters back. Kamuren was in a yellow T-shirt patched with black. His belly was big enough and his black short was torn through the middle. He still declined the bribe. I wanted a picture of him to bring it to my daughter. Because he looked exactly like me in those days and because there were no cameramen, I have no photo. Just the memory. Kamuren stuck to his guns. He was not going to exchange his image for 20bob! We left. But not having learnt a lesson from Kamuren. No matter how you look, how dirty and miserable. No matter what you are made of, be yourself. Your identity should be more important than anything else. Your value should never be equated to any monetary value. And your image is your heritage. Attach value to yourself. Kamuren is not any other Kalenjin name. It is a big name. Muren is the term for man. Kamuren, as young as he is, is going places. Then we proceeded. Down the valley on foot. Two three boys I met in the thicket looking after goats, taught me yet another lesson. I must tell you. Meanwhile, good day and see you on Friday!!!
