Its been a year since a young woman named Jyoti Singh was gangraped and brutally tortured in the streets of Delhi by a bunch of psychologically challenged men. The brave girl passed away after some days but left all of us pondering over the reasons and fate of such incidents. Men and women, students and activists, all poured in the streets and occupied the Vijay Chowk demanding justice for Damini, steps for prevention of such crimes and stricter laws to control crimes against Women. Few things have changed since then. Much remains to be improved. Lakhs of people remain to be sensitized. But still, it is time to relook into the past struggles and move forward with renewed vigour to achieve equal freedom and equal status for women, in reality!
