Its been awhile since I posted last because things have been going pretty well and Im staying busy. First of all, I got a CT scan of my optical orbits as well as my sinus region. The glass that the surgeons left behind my left eye isnt moving so that was great news. My sinuses however, are a different story. Apparently there is a lot more glass in my sinuses than anyone had thought. In fact, they are full of glass shards. There is one shard directly in back of my nose that is 1.7 mm long! Almost 2 cm! Were are assuming thats why I was having such terrible sinus headaches and well follow up with an ENT doctor to see what to do about that. Therapy on my hand is still going well and Im making progress really quickly. In an effort to regain some of my independence, I actually road my bike 5 miles across town to my appointment. I had to ride slowly and it took me 40min, but I made it and it felt great! My contact lens appointment went well also and we tried a few different options. It felt really weird on my eye and I dont like the idea of touching my eyeball, but its a discomfort thst seems pretty irrelevant when I weigh the benefits. They needed to special order the lens I need so we go back for another fitting in 2 weeks. Im really excited to get a lens and get some of my range of motion back though. I feel very humbled and grateful for the blessings in my life. I constantly am in a state of wonder that I can even see what I do. Even though a lot of detail is lost on me, its amazing for me to look out a window and see trees and rocks, the rain, a smile...Thank you all for the love and support, it continues to keep motivating me.
