Its been emotional half full glasses dare to dream some words of this past 18 months or so that have been commonplace... Cracking weekend down in Blighty. Me and my team been working for many months on the leeds.sportsnstripes concept. Im not sure how achievable it is to help sustain the future of Leeds Ladies FC with just this company, be nice to think it would be possible, we aim high!! Was great coming back to Scotland, having given Gary Cooper some cash, bringing our total raised so far for the Ladies to £550 .. and weve not yet what Id call properly launched !! The concept has changed more times than I care to mention! Back to the weekend.. we arrived late on Friday, an we were all pretty nervous to what would happen the following day Pete at The Duncan had kindly let us set up a table... and was decided to also set up at the White Hart up on the top of Beeston Hill.... before the leeds v fulham game... I stayed up at the duncan, first Gary arrived, and was nice to have a long overdue mates reflective chat, reflect on a strange year!! a year ago that Christmas party Dom hosted with his pal... Gary was 10 stone heavier! Leeds United Ladies got dumped... during the mad golf day that wasn;t but got Josh involved with the ladies and indeed Dom! Anyway... back to the Duncan.. Jim Bright arrived with the ladies banners... Dave Cocker, long time pal of mine and gaeys turned up... he is the son of Leeds Legend and World cup WINNER Les Cocker.. Don Revies Assistant.. went outside some fresh air, and there was Dave Woollin !! he was on some form of food hunt in leeds city centre! and then popped up the BADGER!! Martin Badger Chadwick !! Made in Leeds news coming soon... and must thank all of you for your support, it meant an incredible amount, and I will have forgot others.... We wont mention the leeds game, as I never went... Popped into White Hart bumped into Don Vile Gold .. showed me his golf swing and ended up smashing some poor blokes beer glass that was full on his follow through, me avoiding the beer coming towards me dived out the way, and in true domino fashion took someone else carrying beer behind me... couldnt stop laughing as everyones face was so serious like it was all about to kick of lol Peacock after, bumped into the wonderful Jo-Anne Entwistle... and ended up giving Mags Musgrove a lift home!! always ace seeing Mags! went in to Mags mansion, met the awesome David... and pretty much was so glad we had raised many hundreds of pounds that day... I slept a lot easier, and was so pleased to have seen so many friendly, nice faces... Then it was MATCH DAY!!! League class v Mossley up at Knaresborough Town A.F.C. popped into the petrol station before we arrived to bump into the chosen one Jak Oldroyd !! that lad was amazing all day, like all this team, they embrace everyone... I sat in the car park and watched Gary and the crew arrive... 2 hours before kick off.. the level of attention that goes into a matchday is incredible.... I think Jims wife is Nicola? That lady never stopped!! none of them did!! and I soon realised I was witnessing something special.... Brendan Devereux turned up as well! A long time pal Alex Knight turned up to take photos! the very best of luck on your new venture mate! great catching up, one day well be able to relax over a beer! The girls looked sharp warming up... great to see some familiar faces. captainEmma Bentley is an absolute class act... on and off the field... Id never met Kez before, but wowsa.. Erin White... jeysus!! and then theres that Shelby Morris... shes a whippet is that lass!... Fiona Franchesca Berry never broke any legs! Youll have seen the reports flying about..... the game was what only can be termed as mental... the first half was the battle of the midfield, with leeds ladies breaking down with a poor last pass, but were wearing the Mossley girls down... the ref was awful! very poor pen to Mossley, and I thought Id be asked to leave for being a bad luck charm!! fear not, a display of goals from Kez, Emma B.. and think Emma Van(?) with one of the best goals I have ever seen live by a man or a woman making it 5-2 to Leeds ladies... and the Turkey this xmas will taste that much better for a LOT of people who are able to reflect on what can be termed for many of us, as one of the maddest years on record for many of us! All in all a very enjoyable, and rewarding weekend, thank you everyone x
