Its been nice being greeted by Worcesterite JAKI BYARDs legacy - TopicsExpress

Its been nice being greeted by Worcesterite JAKI BYARDs legacy this morning. First, Alan Pasqua mentioned him in a news story about concerts hes playing in Santa Fe and Albuquerque. (Grammy-nominated Pasqua knows for sure of one composition that will be played in the concerts. Titled Chandra, it was composed by his former piano teacher Jaki Byard.) Then I heard from George Schuller about a Byard symposium at WPI on April 13. Yard Byard, which features Schuller on drums, is playing after the symposium. Here they play Jakis great original Aluminun Baby, a tune premiered by Herb Pomeroys orchestra in 1958.
