Its been some time now since I left Moradabad and I certainly dont - TopicsExpress

Its been some time now since I left Moradabad and I certainly dont miss the 14 hour power cuts, the narrow bylanes, the cries of animals being slaughtered from early morning to late at night, the unimaginable stink of carcasses lying out ...in the open/being carried away in trucks, the shoddy houses, the dust, the poverty... It was such a relief to get away from it. I was so sure that I wouldnt miss anything about the place at all. Strangely, today I realized that there is something that I do miss about MBD. There was a mosque just two houses down from where I used to stay (one of the hundreds scattered across the crowded town). I remember the first time I woke up at dawn because of the muezzins prayer. It was not being played over the loudspeaker and the volume was very low, but still I woke up. I was extremely irritated and the first thought that crossed my mind was-I need to shift out of here. However, the muezzin had a melodious voice and in less than ten minutes I had fallen asleep, listening to the Azan and looking at the first rays of sunlight creeping into my small room. This became an almost daily occurence. I would wake up at dawn and fall asleep again in ten minutes listening to the muezzins call. No matter how the rest of the night was, whether I managed to get good sleep or not, the last three hours were always super peaceful. Today in Gurgaon, I woke up at the crack of dawn-not by choice of course. I tried and tried but I couldnt go back to sleep again. It was then that I missed MBD and I missed that melodious voice which used to put me back to sleep. Need to get this on MP3. https://youtube/watch?v=mUHDYlJHaOQ
