Its been three years since Ive had a dose of mountains. This has to change. Linda keeps hemming and hawing and side stepping around any vacation planning, and flat refuses to consider going to Colorado this year. She says she doesnt have enough vacation time to do so. So Ive looked in another direction. Ive zeroed in on an area of West Virginia forests and mountains where we can stay in a log cabin with electricity, running water, and a fully equipped kitchen (for a very reasonable price). We can hike mountain trails through woods and meadows to visit waterfalls and overlooks. There are historic sites along the way. There is a 78 mile long railroad grade converted into a bicycle trail that runs along a river and in its steep valley. We can canoe and swim in that river, and we can ride a steam locomotive tourist train as well. Were running out of summer, so Im booking the reservations. If youre also on-line friends with Linda, tell her what an awesome adventure this would be! I thank you in advance.
