Its been very interesting to see the 2.99 and lower priced books - TopicsExpress

Its been very interesting to see the 2.99 and lower priced books waves hit both het and M/M romance market. The top 25 are flooded with them as well as being speckled with books rated higher than a Nora Roberts release, which is odd in and off itself if you take into account all of the sales and ranking variables. Its not just one market. Its both. I havent checked the other genres but I suspect the same could hold true across the board. Perhaps. So, we all know ratings drive the Amazon system to place a book high on the list... sometimes secondary to sales. But then a high rating puts a book out in front of people browsing so its more likely to be purchased. I wont get into discussing royalties et al and how down-pricing affects the market. Lets put that aside. Another kettle of pickled fish, that. I will admit and own grabbing a book by an unknown to me author because it was a low price. Worth the gamble and all that. Its less than a latte! What are your thoughts on this? Do you grab a book or two because theyre the price of one? Do you spend that to take a chance on someone? Thoughts. Opinions. Discuss.
