Its easy to get up on Saturday/Sunday to go to the house of worship where mostly all have accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior and in their safety zone. They dress in all their glory so people can honor them, drive big and expensive cars and lives in nice homes. 2% of the people who I just described have no idea how to reach out the those who are homeless, hungry, unemployed, suffer from sickness and they pass them off to programs they say is designed to help them. I was a member of one of the Mega Churches here in Winston Salem. When I was sick recovering from a hip replacement and also had to have three stints placed in my heart, my step-daughter was murdered and my brothers transitioned 6 weeks after my step-daughter murder. Nobody from the church came to see me and although I was not able to go to church from my recovery I still mailed my tithes. The church will make sure if you cant come or shut in, each month you will receive your tithes envelopes so you can send in your tithes. If there is a special offering a amount for thousands of dollars are asked for foreign missions. When I was out of work I needed help for my fuel oil to keep warm and this Mega Church who collects thousand of dollars each month and extra for foreign missions sent me 5 gallons of fuel oil. This is the church where I was a member and paying thousands of dollars in tithes for the upkeep of the church. There are programs/activities within the church for members and right down the street elderly are struggling to buy food and pay rent. Absolutely no outreach for the poor, the sick, the elderly, the homeless, the unemployed. When I was unemployed I asked the church can you give me a job cleaning but they would hire a company with a cleaning service instead of giving a member the opportunity to earn a living but the request for tithing continues. I have a college degree in Theology and volunteer for the prison ministry and their hospital ministry but not all members are seen because of favoritism to older families who has been a part of the church for a long time.
