Its encouraging to me when good things get the recognition they deserve from the public. Its A Wonderful Life is the highest rated Christmas movie on IMDB (#26 overall, which is still very impressive). Its also the highest rated Christmas movie on Rottentomatoes. That means that both critics and regular folks agree on its magnificence. With so much that can divide us, I am glad that we can join together in our appreciation of a great film, a great tradition and a great story. Frank Capra shared a wonderful gift with us all those years ago. Like Scrooge from Charles Dickens A Christmas Carol, George Bailey is an enduring character who we love to see transformed by a Christmas miracle time and time again. In both stories, the miracle doesnt come from altering outside circumstances, but from a supernatural revelation of whats been true all along. Its a change in attitude and perspective that makes George cheer Merry Christmas! even though hes still most likely going to prison. Its that reminder that helps us to be thankful for everything wonderful in our own lives. Remember, no man is a failure who has friends. Youre living a wonderful life, even though it may not feel like it. See the good things all around you and treasure the gifts youve been given. So whether youre going to jail or being haunted by ghosts or simply spending time with your family, treasure the good truths that Its A Wonderful Life teaches. No one is beyond hope and no one is beyond a Merry Christmas. In other words, Merry Christmas everyone!
