Its false to assert that people cant be argued out of their beliefs. (See this video at about 58 minutes) Reason and argument can indeed change peoples views on reality. I had to renounce what I regard as my own former superstition based on a process of reasoning. Its wasnt a single conversation, to be sure, and this isnt surprising. Meaningful change and rewiring of deep-seated thinking takes time. But it was, without doubt, the result of a personal journey into the difficult questions, and allowing the answers to be what they are without relying on presupposition. The faith card simply isnt a good enough answer, and to my mind disqualifies its proponent from any serious engagement - its an illegitimate move in this game. It amounts to: LALALALA I CANT HEAR YOU (and by the way dont you dare criticise or ridicule my unsubstantiated beliefs!). Footnote: By argued I dont mean being argumentative. I mean engaging, with those who are willing or interested to do so meaningfully, in a constructive way - to explore reality and arrive at ones own conclusions based on honest logic and evidence. https://youtube/watch?v=UgkAHehlzzo
