All the game companies are making a lot of big talk about bringing gaming to the next generation or some crap like that. If anything is a next step its this. Why? Because as any real gamer knows, online gaming to this point does not equal couch gaming. You can play together with other people online, if they too have the game of course. But anyone remember the days whered you go over to a friends house, they would show you that cool new game that just came out, play it for a bit before handing the controller off to you so you could give it a try? Couldnt do that online, until now on PS4. The PS4 since launch has already allowed you to stream your gameplay live, allowing others to watch from anywhere. And the PS4s cloud gaming capabilities have already been unleashed with the Playstation Now service. Now its time to tie those 2 together and bring the couch gaming experience back. At any time you can allow a friend in your party watching your stream to take control of the game YOUR PS4 is currently running from THEIR PS4. Theyll essentially be cloud gaming a PS4 game, with your system being the hub. How good the experience will be will be based on your 2 internet connections though so keep that in mind. Other restrictions include both players needing PS+ to use this feature, and theres a 1 hour time limit, BUT you can easily send another invite to take control, theres no limit to that. The 1 hour restriction is basically so you cant set up unlimited access to your system 24/7 so your friends can play your games at anytime they want. At that point Sony wants them to pick up the game themselves. But what really has me most excited is that Sony revealed an additional feature of Share Play we didnt know about. Instead of handing the controller off, you can have your friend become Player 2. YOU CAN SIMULATE HAVING YOUR ONLINE FRIEND AS A LOCAL PLAYER IN LOCAL MULTIPLAYER GAMES AS IF THEY WERE ACTUALLY THERE! What does that mean? It means any local multiplayer game that originally didnt have online capabilities can now be played online! 2 games that immediately come to my mind are Rayman Legends and Sportsfriends, 2 incredibly fun multiplayer PS4 games but cant be played online. But now youll be able to, without any additional work needed from the original developers. This is huge. I hope Sony markets the hell out of this feature, because its a big reason to choose a PS4 over a Xbone.
