Its funny how our minds work. There is an aroma filling up the house from the slow-cooker which reminds me of my days as a child growing up in Richmond, Virginia. There was an old short pump convenient store my dad used to take us to when we were little. I remember it was normally a Saturday morning after our Henrico country basketball game. My dad was always my coach. He used to go to this convenient store because gas was cheap and it was the only place that carried his favorite fireball bubblegum which he bought by the case and hid in his closet from the rest of us lol. I personally remember it for its old fashioned townee feel, amazing chili-dogs, red slushees, big league chew, and its signature smell. I assume it was the chili cooking. But its from that scent that takes me back over 25 years. It brings me right back to my childhood and floods my mind with amazing memories -from one amazing memory to another...all from a single scent. Fills my heart with joy. I loved being a kid. Such happy simple memories and Ill never take for granted.
