Its funny-the Hijab has widely become a symbol of Islam and how Evil it is....when actually,during Muhammads (PBUh) lifetime, no woman apart from his wives wore the Hijab. It was supposed to be used simply by his wives to protect them from the gaze of strangers. It was not compulsory and nor was it encouraged. It is supposed to be a matter of personal choice and actually has more to do with cultural reasons than religion, but many remain woefully ignorant of such a thing.
