Its funny the things you find when moving. Over Christmas break, I went through a few boxes we had shoved into closets during a recent move. One box, which came to us from North Carolina, contained the following of mine: a Cabbage Patch doll, a Nine Inch Nails ticket stub from 1994 at the U of I, various pins that I used to wear on my acid washed denim jacket in the 80s (with such sayings at US out of my uterus, and Yes, but not with you,), sympathy cards from when my mom died in 1994, a cartoon book entitled, Things to Do with a Useless Man, some sorority memorabilia, and every single response card from our wedding 15 years ago and various other odds and ends. What I particularly questioned during this cleaning session was what made me keep these things? Why were they so important to me 10 years ago that I couldnt part with them when we left South Carolina?
