Its getting colder. Its supposed to rain overnight turning to snow flurries in the early morning. That wont stop my partner Tim from wanting us to run in the park at 6:30 AM. Hes from Minnesota. Tim gets upset if I dont run with him. He would say Im wimping out on him. Its very important to Tim to have steady companionship, in all his activities. Tim claims our anniversary is the day we met five years ago, although we got closer in stages. We decided not to honor each other, but to celebrate our buddyship instead, a thing apart. The actual date is 8/25, but we are going to celebrate in Las Vegas next week. My three previous partners had some good points, but they were never my buddies. But I guess each male partnership is unique. Most gay male couples are attracted visually to each others body. But I dont think of Tim as a handsome guy doll. Hes more like an action figure. Whenever we hold hands, nature takes over. Tim is not a noun - he is a verb. lol He thinks thats so funny. He called me his adverb. I havent yet figured out what he means by that. We are not kids. We are both well into our forties. I always planned to settle down when I got older. I decided I would accept whatever partner came my way down the pike, warts and all. But Timbo has no warts on him. Tim has a generous spirit. Tim says if it werent for Todd being the jackass he is, we might not have become buddies. So hes not mad at Todd. But he knows its best to steer clear of him. Tim says Todd is trying to draw me into feeling sorry for him. Tim says just do the math. Todd makes about $80K and has a mortgage payment well over $2000/mo. I make $150K, already paid off my mortgage and have mountain resort property. Todd has an expensive car. I make do with a 2002 Toyota Corolla. I have a partner (Tim) to share expenses, but Todd lives alone. Tim says most people these days are short of cash, even self-defined wealthy people. He thinks Im like a bank, sitting on my cash. I asked Tim if he liked me for my money. lol He replied that he likes me partly because I do not need money from him or anybody. Its funny. I dont think of myself as well-to-do. I feel like Im always on the verge of starvation. But Ive made good money for twenty years. I had no student loans to pay off. I could probably retire by age 55, if I wanted. But I love my work.
