Its going to be a professional shutdown for many of us till 2nd January. Come the year end and we start winding down as the wines bottles start winding up, and the kitchen is redolent with the aroma of plum pudding and fruit cake for those who dare to bake. Many of us do. I am not a party popper; frankly, I get bored very easily. I kicked up quite a heel in my days and was known for my collection of denim. The heel is still in place and so is the denim, which I still fit into decades later, but gyrating and cavorting under psychedelic lights is, perhaps, not much of an adrenaline pusher anymore (remember Pink Elephant?). Professional parties are a strict no-no. Work and play dont mix. Platforms are also different..... Call girls in tissue saris and halter blouses waiting for a pick-up by another colleague, reeking of booze they can ill afford on their over-the-table salaries; maudlin conversation from the business-providers about their tenth visit to Sweetzerland, the new Merc, the YSL cologne (never mind the pronunciation), the new farmhouse, and the whiskey purchased in Dubai duty free, is not for me. Parties are fun when youre with gentry.....Schmoozing dont work for me. KISS, Keep It Simple Sweetie, under the mistletoe.
