Its hard having a child with #DownSyndrome not because of the condition but because of other people. People interact with Jacob and automatically set limits on him. I remember before Jacob was born doctors gave us an extensive list of things that he would NOT be able to do. We were even given the choice of putting him up for adoption. Through out his life I remember hearing questions like: did you do something wrong?, was it something the military gave you?, and Isnt God messed up for doing that to your son?. Of course the answer to those questions is NO. I did not do anything wrong, the military had nothing to do with it, and my God is good. I truly know that having a child with Down Syndrome is not a curse from God. It is quite the opposite. The blessing is not that my son has a condition, but the blessing is that the Lord has allowed me to see him the way that He sees him. He sees him as any other child capable of mischief, laughter, and love.
