Its hard to say which one of us was the witness. Or who won. I just did what I do. I spoke freely and with no care for consequence. When asked by the pharmacist if he could be of any assistance, I simply pointed to my mother and said Nope, Im just waiting for the drug addict. And Pow, he and two of his behind the counter colleagues broke out into uncontrolled laughter. With eyes as wide as you could get them, with what looked like actual signs of ecstasy, they grasped openly onto the preciousness of the moment because someone finally let the cat out of the bag. Someone finally said aloud what they themselves cannot. And when they noticed that the fourth amongst them hadnt heard me, they circled her and announced it as if to say Were going home. And admittedly, even for me, this was almost hard to take in. Because there I was with four highly educated professionals, none of whom were white obviously, that arent in any way permitted to address any or all of their patron spades, as spades. Leaving them to be, sadly, nothing more than a quartet of trough-like vending machines. Standing precisely where a rich and conscienceless pig(weston) pays them to, so that all the other mindless pavlovian dogs over 65 can come get their fix for free. And yeah, while I mean free from cost, more importantly I mean free from any and all scrutiny and/or any thing even remotely resembling accountability. Because that is what this is all about: Shameful left turn dynamics. Where no one questions anything, no matter how blatantly wrong and tragic it is. Where no one, and I mean no one, wants to dare risk losing their little brown spot in this smoke-filled dumpster. Where no one can even go so far as to just come out and simply say what theyre thinking. Because I wasnt even trying to be funny. I just said the first thing that popped into my head. Frankly. But wow, the glare on my moms face while this whole event swirled over. She looked just like Alec Baldwin with a hint of water retention.
