Its here, the first day of the school year! Remember to slow down in school zones (15 MPH) and keep and eye out for children crossing the street. Today we are ending our series, Get to Know Your SRO with the Sergeants who oversee the Youth Liaison Unit : Sergeant Karla Hines and Sergeant Carla Kmiotek. Sergeant Hines is a 19-year veteran of the Coral Springs Police Department. She earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from Florida State University. In addition to supervising 11 city schools, Sergeant Hines oversees the Community Involvement and Emergency Management components of the police department. When Sergeant Hines is off duty, she enjoys boating with her family. Sergeant Kmiotek is a 14-year veteran of the Coral Springs Police Department. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Florida State University and a Master’s Degree in Strategic Leadership from Mountain State University. In addition to supervising officers in 12 city schools, Sergeant Kmiotek serves as the departments Public Information Officer. When she is not juggling a busy work schedule, Sergeant Kmiotek enjoys watching FSU football and working out.
