Its in human nature to find patterns. Its the reason we see faces - TopicsExpress

Its in human nature to find patterns. Its the reason we see faces in everything we look at, the basic way we survive the world... knowing which berry is poison and which is sweet, the reason people believe in gods and higher powers and even the reason people dont. We find these patterns and assign meaning to them, usually in step with living, dying, or otherwise reaching goals. This is really the nature of all sentient beings, but we being human, we get to write songs about it, dedicate paintings and poems and prose to the things we notice. We get to take inventory of life and document this in a unique way. This biological trait has a certain flair for us. So why is it that the narrative in basically every one of these national cases, that we played against type and ignored the pattern that means not making it home to our families? How is it logically possible, based on what we know about humanity that every case would be a clear cut and very similar set of circumstances in which the dead person reaches for a waistband, assaults an officer, resists arrests, etc etc... when we know, that this would equal death. Believe me, we talk about this stuff, have seminars, family meetings, pamphlets, brochures, banners, etc. Its like the birds and the bees talk. We all get it. We get constant reminders of where the boundaries are. Im sure that we are not all in the right. Im certain that black folks are/can be criminals too. But doesnt it seem odd, that basically all the stories are the same... though we know how powerful the ability to create patterns and (also) negative reinforcement really are? You would have to actually, completely believe we are human though for this to make sense.
