Its incredibly disheartening to think that millions of Americans wake up each morning and turn on FOX news to get their information about what is going on in the world. Fox thrives on sensationalism -- the idea that every conflict has a good guy and a bad guy. The hosts of their program are there to create a spectacle because balanced, objective reporting doesnt get ratings. Our news isnt and shouldnt be entertainment. It should be a conduit for us to educate ourselves on the happenings of the world, and take action toward whatever we feel is necessary. We should always question the motives of the columnist or the reporter, and view each broadcast or newspaper article with a critical eye. Moreover, we should gather information from a number of different sources before forming an opinion on a situation. We cant be lazy with significant world events. The media wields tremendous power. We cant allow them to think and form our opinions for us.
