Its inspiring to hear from people who still fiercely protect clean soil, air and water. Mostly, where I have traveled and been ~ these are indigenous peoples who understand that the Earth and all elements are sacred. Unlike modern peoples, they are still place-based, rooted in a cosmology and being-ness that deeply connects them with their surroundings. Some modern peoples are making the shift and actually fighting for the land they live with, but it is rare. Typically, these peoples are part of a community that has a good heart-beat and not ruled by shallow politics, corporate entities, or police forces. In the modern world, this is truly rare and completely unfortunate b/c many young ones now think that corruption, profit-oriented entities, and law enforcement are the norm. In terms of the material realm, many people have quite a bit in the modern world. In the spiritual realm, they have lost almost everything. I follow indigenous efforts like this and share them to remind people of what our priorities are. They are clean air, clean water, clean soil ~ and respect for what we have borrowed from the future.
