Its interesting the generalities we use to determine who is worthy of us to deem as walking with God. All to often we want to add to what scripture says is required to be born of God. If they seem excited enough, if they cry enough, if they change the way they interact with people enough. Whatever we can do to add to what scripture says, to make it seem more like a real conversion to us. Our problem is that Scripture makes it too simple. 1 John 5:1 says WHOSOEVER believeth that Jesus is the Christ is BORN OF GOD..... Then when we are truly convinced someone is a Christian by them passing the test of OUR ideas, we turn our expectations around. After they are truly saved we teach that theyre once saved always saved, or that being converted and having a little growth here, a little growth there is good enough. Matthew 24:13 says But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. Matthew 5:48 says Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. Man raises the standard higher than what God requires to begin in His Son, and lowers the standard below what God requires to end in Him. To begin in Jesus requires absolutely nothing of who you are and what you have. To end in Jesus requires absolutely everything of who you are and what you have.
