Its interesting to me that many Episcopal clergy, despite our generous vacation benefits, never take off what is needed for soul care. Why do so many clergy overwork to the point of ill health? We care so deeply about the people we serve? Our sense of self is so entangled with our ministry? Too many aspects of our ministry settings fall to our responsibility? Here in New York, we are caught up in a culture of overwork?
