Its interesting to me that this explains much of what I was trying to explain recently with the decline of those who are usually referred to as hardcore gamers from the majority to a minority that is shrinking very quickly as games become increasingly mainstream. I was called a liar. I was told I obviously just didnt understand games and clearly was never a gamer (despite having been a gamer since I was about 8, so nearly 40 years), and a number of other weak attempts to prove I was wrong. Thankfully it never reached this level of sheer crazy. The fact is, anyone who has been paying even a little attention to the industry saw this happening and was predicting a shift in thinking and realignment of values in the near (read immediate) future. The temper tantrum of those who woke up one day to discover they were on the wrong side of the growth curve should have been equally predictable. Trolls do not surrender their bridges quietly.
