Its just my opinion, but Robert Rodriguez has the same problem Quentin Tarantino does : Making the same movie over and over. While Tarantino is stuck making revenge movies where the characters make long speeches over and over, Rodriguez keeps making low budget movies. Yes, theyre cost effective and made very quickly, but at this point in his career Rodriguez can do better. Can he do any other kind of movie ? Can Tarantino make a comedy or a drama ? Can Rodriguez use a bigger budget so the movie doesnt look like it was made in his backyard ? As far as Machete Kills, I know its supposed to look like this, like an 80s direct to VHS b-movie. Still, all the style and quick cuts didnt amount to a good movie. The first was better, and this one misses the mark. Skip it.
