Its less than a week to the 2014 Coeliac Convention, in association with SuperValu, in Cork and we wanted to take this opportunity to highlight all the activities that are happening at this national event. Friday Night If you are staying in the Silver Springs Hotel, Cork on Friday night as part of the Coeliac Convention, enjoy a drinks reception from 6.30 to 8.30pm in the hotel, thanks to Coole Swan. Saturday Registration starts at 9am in the Silver Springs Hotel Conference Centre. Once registered head straight to Ballynogluten, where 26 stall holders display some of the best of gluten-free food available in Ireland. Official Event Opening Cork T.D. and Chairman of the Joint Committee on Health of the Oireachtas, Mr Jerry Buttimer opens the event officially at 10am. SuperValu Cookery Demonstration At 10.30am, SuperValus cookery demo begins, with Chef Julien Clémot, of Dunbrody Country House Hotel. Kids Crafts & Loom Band Competition! Bringing the kids? Check out our Kids table, from 10am to 12pm, where they can stop by and get their face painted, balloons modelled or try their hand at some crafts - make the most interesting loom band of the day and win some gluten-free goodies! Lots to do at lunchtime! Our buffet lunch runs from 12.30 and you will be allocated your time on registration - a running buffet means everyone gets a chance to eat and to check out whats going on upstairs. Speed-dating Dietetics with the Bon Secours, Food List Oracle (tips) with Anne Manning and Whats Up Doc, with Dr Kennedys vital info for coeliacs, particularly the newly diagnosed. Whats on the menu? Gluten-free Lasagne, Quiche and an array of salads, plus a gluten-free tasty dessert! RTEs Domestic Divas Aisli Madden and Cat Lawlor talk about Being a Happy Coeliac at 2.30pm. Dr Jane McCarthy, of Mercy University Hospital, Cork, will give a Medical Digest, all the latest in coeliac disease, genetics, novel therapies, NCGI and screening, at 4.30pm. The day finishes at 5pm.
