Its morel hunting time in the Ozarks. The Missouri Dept. of Conservation provides some good information on finding these tasty wild mushrooms, as well as a short video to help with identification. There are lots of recipes out there, but simple is always good (Thank you, Tracy!) -- Slice them in half and soak them twice in plain water (this removes a lot of spores, and I always discard this water at the base of one of my trees for good measure), then sauté them in a bit of olive oil and butter, garlic, salt & pepper. Simple and quick and delish! When you find them, do not pull them out of the ground, cut them with a knife and leave the base in the ground like a seed or root.
