Its my Fathers birthday, and IM the one that received the present. After having the luxury of spending 42 years on the same planet, one would think that my Dad probably understands how much I love and appreciate him. In the off-chance that he might not, words are the best I can do. You see, words have been a wonderful gift that my father has given to me, not just on special occasions contained in a birthday or Christmas card, but during some of the most challenging times in my life. His words, whether written or spoken have helped me to: Find a way. Help me through. Heal my broken heart. Change a negative perspective. Wish me well. Inspire my day. Keep on keepin on. I notice that the encouraging words I received from my Dad have been the same words that I have then given friends, acquaintances and strangers to: Help them find a way. Help them through. Help them to heal a broken heart. Consider a different perspective. Wish them well. Inspire their day (as best I can). Help them to keep on keepin on. Many of my friends have a parent or both parents that have died. They dont have the opportunity to call their Dad on the phone, send a card, Skype, Facetime or enjoy homemade peach pie on the morning of their birthday. I got that chance today. Dad, here are the words I gift to you today: Happy Birthday, John Anthony Venesile. Im glad you were born and that you are my Father. I realize its YOUR birthday, but, thanks for the gift.
