Its my pleasure to capture and share this inspiring moment of a great FEEL-GOOD story from this years Illinois State Fair. Friday afternoon a 14-year-old girl, along with her parents, attended the Fair curious about Missouri Fox Trotters (MFTs). Luck would have it that they would approach the barn that had Jim and Judy McNail’s horse, Damage Control, and asked Jim about the gaits of the MFT. If I am not mistaken, the young girl has an MFT, but was unsure of the gaits it was displaying. Jim is generously kind enough to offer anyone an opportunity to learn about MFT’s. So, late that Friday afternoon he offered this inquisitive young lady to sample the correct gaits with a ride on his horse, Damage Control (as he did me this same favor years ago with an awesome horse, Trax; thanks again Jim). He revealed to me the 14-year-old claimed about 4-years of riding experience, and took less than 10 minutes to prove her abilities on his horse. Impressed with this young lady’s talent, Jim invited her to return to ride Saturday if she would allow him to enter her on his horse in the youth class. The video tells the rest of this story.
