Its nice to hear that the gift of music brought smiles to West Qld farmers... A free drought concert had 500 graziers from around the Longreach area bopping and singing along to country classics last night with Adam Harvey and Troy Cassar-Daley. Were any of our followers there or involved I wonder? Read more at: abc.net.au/news/2014-05-16/drought-concert/5457960 Also below is tomorrows FORECAST across our districts, and we wish you all a lovely Saturday night :) *********************************************** This is the Official Forecast for Sunday 18th of May 2014 for Gladstone to Cooktown and west to Mt Isa. *********************************************** Queensland Warning Summary at issue time - - Marine Wind Warning Summary for Queensland. >>Please check the Bureaus web site for details of the above and all latest Qld warnings information at bom.gov.au/qld/warnings/ Weather Situation - A strong high pressure system over the Tasman Sea extends a firm ridge over eastern Queensland. The high and ridge will weaken during Monday and Tuesday. A series of weak upper level troughs will extend some high cloud through the interior and southeast districts during the next couple of days though with generally little or no rainfall expected. A more significant upper trough should enter western Queensland during Tuesday. Forecast for the rest of Saturday - Isolated to scattered showers about about the east coast and nearby inland areas. Possible isolated showers about the northern Gulf Country this evening. High cloud increasing over the southern interior though remaining fine. Fine and mostly clear elsewhere. Fresh to strong southeast winds along the east coast, and generally moderate southeast to northeast winds elsewhere. Sunday 18 May - Isolated to scattered showers about the east coast and nearby inland areas. Isolated showers near the southern Gulf of Carpentaria coast. Patchy cloud developing over much of the interior though with just the chance of isolated light showers during the afternoon and evening. Moderate to fresh southeasterly winds about the east coast, strong and gusty at times north of about St Lawrence. Moderate to fresh southeast to northeasterly wind elsewhere. Monday 19 May - The high pressure system in the Tasman Sea will gradually weaken, with the onshore flow easing a little along most of the east coast. However, there will still be sufficient moisture and onshore flow to support showers about Queenslands eastern districts, particularly along the east tropical coast. Another upper trough over central Australia will lead to redevelopment of high cloud over much of the interior and southeast of the state, however only isolated light showers are likely to result. Tuesday 20 May - The high pressure system in the Tasman will continue to weaken while a new high will move east from the Great Australian Bight towards southeastern Australia, maintaining the ridge along the east coast. Showers are therefore expected about Queenslands eastern districts and adjacent interior, more frequent about the east tropical coast. An upper trough will move east into western Queensland, increasing instability and the likelihood of isolated showers and possible thunderstorms in the central and southern interior. Fine and mostly sunny conditions expected in the far west.
