Its nice to see people sending up prayers, offering condolences, posting pics, airbrushing shirts and hoodies, writing statuses of remembrance, taking shots, pouring out liquor, packing the church to capacity and beyond... All of that is cool. But what do you do beyond the Repast (for those who might not know, thats the name for the gathering after the service)? Do you check and see if the bill is covered and if not, do you slip Ivan a couple dollars on it? You tell the family that youre there if they need you but do you ever stop by? Do you call to check on em? If theyve left behind kids, do you do your best to see that theyre returned to normalcy, as much as they can be? Do you even think about them outside of the Sunrise/Sunset dates? I was a grown woman when I lost My Dear Mama. But when someone is snatched from their family, theres no preparation for that. I know how the game goes and it is dirty but what about those who arent playing? I hope people understand that the love is needed beyond a funeral procession. The love is needed beyond a balloon release. The love is needed beyond a candlelight ceremony. You dont have to come with presents. Your presence will do...
