Its no secret that Im fed up with the constant barrage of curious, nosy, or even downright rude comments and questions from random strangers regarding everything from family size to lifestyle choices and parenting methods. Thats why Im happy to report that today, we had a really great experience with a kindly old fellow at Costco. It was hectic (no, completely chaotic) at that store. It was packed. The lines reached back to the aisles. My kids were antsy. I was just focused on keeping all the kids near me, alive, and throwing my groceries onto the conveyor belt so I was too harried to acknowledge what my son was doing. The stranger in line behind us didnt miss the opportunity, though. With a big smile on his face, he loudly told my son, Youre really observant! I noticed that you helped your mommy put the food up! Youre quite a hardworking little man! Your mommy must be very lucky to have you! You couldve lit up a firework and it would be dull compared to DS1s eyes. He was practically floating out of the store. Thank you, Random Man out there, for saying something that built up my small child, instead of trying to find something negative or distracting to complain about during a stressful time.
