Its not Black vs. White, Christian vs. Muslim vs. Jew. Its not wealthy vs. poor or Republican vs. Democrat. We see these horrible things that happen and we act like theyre isolated incidents. The truth is, were horrified of other and different and horrible to one another as a result. Were self righteous and prideful and would rather fight than apologize. Wed rather tear one another down and gloat over someone elses failure than reach out and give them a hand up. We go to great lengths to prove were right before taking a minute to listen to anyone elses side. Thats just how it is. Cant change human nature. Maybe not, but you can change a human. You can choose your words and actions. You can choose your response to other peoples words and actions. You can look someone in the eye and respect them because they are human and even though we look different and believe differently and approach life from a completely different paradigm, were all still made up of the same 46 chromosomes, breathe the same air and walk the same planet.
