Its not Thursday, but heres a throwback from when I fought for Bellator in 2010. I dropped 23lbs in 12 hours (Will Shutt, remember that?) to make weight after I sprained my ankle worse than I ever have in my life just 3 days before weigh ins. I was Playing basketball which I NEVER play, just to get some cardio in, running sprints & passing the ball keeping it safe. Well the one time I let the inner Koby Bryant out, I hit a jump shot, and came down on my ankle rolling it horribly. It wasnt broken after I got the X-Rays, so like a warrior, I Iced the crap out of it for 3 days that I couldnt train, then BUSTED my butt in the steam room. From 1am-3am I dropped the first 13lbs, then slept. Woke up and cut the last 10lbs from 9am-1pm. 203 to 179 3/4 in exactly 12 hours. Jumped in the car, road tripped to KC. I made weight & FOUGHT with the injury. Was doing well against a striker, then got caught by a big punch & finished by choke. Dangit! I Could have pulled out, but it wasnt broken, so I told myself I could STILL FIGHT! My friend on the far right passed away in a motorcycle accident last year, and today is his birthday. RIP BERT! Love ya man. That was one of my many memories through the sport of Mixed Martial Arts.
