Its not all about the MONEY! Some people are pursuing the wrong things FIRST. Notice I said FIRST. Some just have their priorities backwards and become worn out, exausted, etc just pursuing in the wrong order...... Recently, I heard a celebrity being interviewed regarding the rise of her fame and the unexpected challenges that success had brought along with the battles of sustaining a place in the entertainment business. She was asked, “now that you have achieved what everyone views as success” what now? Her response was simply, “I just want to be happy”. Hmmm… She has achieved more than she ever hoped for and has everything she ever wanted and more but, was still in search of happiness. Without peace you cannot have joy and without joy you have nothing. She is no different than all of us. We may not have celebrity status but just like her, we are in pursuit of achieving our goals and if we are not careful we can fall into the (I’ll be happy when) trap… When I achieve, when I make more money, when I get a new relationship etc. etc… If we do not have joy during the pursuit we are setting ourselves up for disappointment and emptiness… Isaiah 57:21 There is no peace, says my God, for the wicked. God’s word has a way of putting our lives into the proper order, if we will only allow it the opportunity. Psalms 119:165 Great peace have they who love Your law; nothing shall offend them or make them stumble. Prov 10:28 The hopes of the godly result in happiness, but the expectations of the wicked are all in vain. Isaiah 32:17 The fruit of righteousness will be peace; the effect of righteousness will be quietness and confidence forever.
