Its not fair! Of course not…you got the ticket, the car that just sped by you went unnoticed; you missed the deadline by just 5 minutes, now the sale is over; you take such good care of your home, but your house is the one whose pipes burst… Life’s not fair, and when it comes to death – that even seems more unfair! Why should we all die just because one man sinned in the beginning? It’s not fair – so some object to the Bible’s teaching about sin – one man, and death – for all. I wonder what the Lord might say? “Is it fair that I should give up my Son to die in your place? Is it fair that I gave you my Spirit in your baptism? Is it fair that I gave you such ample opportunity to learn my Word? Is it fair that you’ll enjoy a perfect – yes, I said perfect – life in my heavenly home?” Now what will we say? “No, Lord. And we thank you for Jesus, for your forgiveness, for your love, for your Word, for your Church’s ministry, for your promise and presence to work good in all, and for the inheritance of heaven awaiting me.” Grace – it’s not fair – it’s God’s gift! Celebrate that grace with us Sunday, 9:30 a.m. worship and Bible study, 10:45. Don’t forget to “spring ahead” Saturday night by setting your clocks one hour ahead.
