Its not often I get stumped by Ableton Live, but maybe one of the amazing gurus who Im lucky enough to be friends with will see this and give me a hand: I have some stereo files from a live show that I want to mix in Ableton. Together they form a multitrack of the show, but the dubious recording device in question created stereo files with each mono track on one side... the first is Vocals on the Left and Piano on the Right, the second is Guitar Left, Bass Right, and so on. There isnt an easy way in Ableton to split a stereo file into dual-mono files, nor is there a way to have a Track Input listen to only one side of a stereo source (that I could find). I tried creating an Effect Rack with Chains panned to each side and then having a Track Input listen to each, but the result was still a stereo signal with the content panned, and when I pan the track to the other side the signal disappears. Im missing something (I think), or maybe theres a Max For Live tool for this? Who can help? (For the record, sure I could use another app to split them into mono files but I think Ableton must be able to offer some sort of easy solution to this problem and I want to find it!!).
