Its not what you look at that matters, its what you see. -- Henry David Thoreau Very....True! Well not to quote Robin Williams in the movie Good Morning Vietnam, when he was asked by the Sargent What does three up and three down mean, while pointing to the Stripes on his sleeve. Robin Williams quickly answered the end of an inning. Just to infuriate the already stressful conversation he was having. So today this is the beginning of an ending. The first day of the last month of the year. Where do we stand? Looking back we have achieved wealth, happiness, love, health, family...do I dare keep going? In just one year, excuse me eleven months, have we achieved our infamous New Years resolution we created for ourselves last year? Did we loose all that weight? Did finish all of those projects? Did we help all those through what we said we were? Did we feel blessed for all of our achievements or did we only wrap around our defeats or our losses? Which one are you? Please dont despair. Or start looking for eleven months worth of excuses, its over. Done. In just thirty one more days this year (2014) will be over. No need to cry about what is no longer in your control. But, I have seen Great things happen just by planning. Staying on course, focusing on Goals and achieving Great things by simple actions. But, first we must plan. So chart your course, gain your focus...because in three hundred and sixty five days I will be writing about a similar situation. By then, your world or my world could have changed drastically. As strange as it is in my small mind that I am writing about the end of he year, I decided at 1 AM to start cleaning and sanitizing my bathroom. Hey doesnt everyone? So, I started noticing things that I typically dont and started wondering now why havent I done this in a while? You see, we overlook the obvious. There was no planning. I had gotten into a routine and started taking shortcuts. Now after one whole gallon of pure bleach...my bathroom sparkles. Of course I am not the guy who can be satisfied with that, I then started to plan my meals for the week and started marinating my chicken breast in some olive and garlic sauce that I conjured up. Then boiled my eggs for the week and have my vegetables all cleaned and ready to go as well. Laundry will be done here in a few minutes and then I will get my ironing done and I will be set to move to my next project. Which I have planned one for the next thirty one days...so I can leave this year, just as I found it. Busy! Of course with age you tend to slow the pace down a little. But, my organizational skills allow me to gain some ground. Today I will be giving a lecture on that very thing. Gaining ground...wanting verses commitment. Having the commitment to get what you want...to achieve Greatly. After all I only have thirty one days to get this point across. Because once we cross the threshold...everything changes. Everything; we get caught up in the I wish I had done this last year or the year before or the year before that or even...the year before that. Which is a waste of time. It doesnt matter where the starting line is, it only matters where the finish line is. So finish what you start. Take a good long look at you calendar...2014. Then take a look at your New one 2015. What will change? Remember the quote it doesnt matter what you look at, its what you see. So... Plan now! Have a Great Day...get this week started!
