Its odd to look back on being six years old, completely unaware of what had just happened, watching military children being pulled from my class as teachers and my mother were crying profusely while they watched the news. Smoke was pouring from the towers, people were leaping to their deaths on live television and all I was doing was playing with my toys. Now that Im older and have realized what had happened, its hard for me to stomach something like this occuring at any point in time. The people that lost their lives on this day thirteen years ago will be remembered as heroes for as long as history allows, because they were the ones that were sacrificed to show us that nobody is safe from the ugliness that this world has to offer. Not even at home.
