Its out of control....some friends of ours have a nice farm outside Newton. They have a teen age son. They were having problems with one of his friends so they said he could not come back over anymore. He (the Father, a local college professor) came home from work to find his whole house surrounded by several law enforcement cars, vans, suvs, etc...And yes some of officers were in full combat gear....They had no search warrant said they received a tip that he was growing cannabis in one of his fields...and they proceeded to search his home inside, tearing things up, making a huge mess...went to his garden found 3 red solo cups with seeds in them. No arrest was made. The tip came from the x-friend who had been arrested earlier and cups were put there by his sons x-friend. Do not think this does not, can not happen in Kansas It does. Last night, our neighbors who has a wonderful huge garden in their backyard, was home alone as her hubby took the sons camping. All of us were awaken by loud noises, dogs going nuts, etc. I looked outside and saw a street full of cars, vans, suvs and officers and yes some in full combat gear. I put Tink away. Went outside, she was hand cuffed and kept saying there was nothing in her trash but tea leaves, coffee grinds, and weeds from her garden....all other things are re-cycled. (They take care of foster children, just last week they had trouble with one of them) As they went through her home, they also went through her garden, and took her trash dumpster. Long story short....same thing happened...the boy they had trouble with was sent to another place where he soon got in trouble and to help himself said she and husband were growing and he knew for a fact cause he had just put a pipe in their trash last week. Guess what? They pick up the trash here on Fridays...so there was nothing in the trash expect exactly what she kept telling them....oh check this out..she too is a teacher!!!!! In both causes had an officer or two just nicely showed up and communicated the situation with these parents....they could have saved themselves and tax payers a lot of time, money, and pain. What happened to protect and serve? Both families are planning or are already in legal action against what happened to them. Good grief the dogs did not pick up on anything last night?!?!?! This is just 2 situations that I know of personally. I have heard of many others. Can we stop the craziness please. Go arrest some murderers, rapists, business robbers, home robbers....see it in the news everyday we seem to have plenty of them on the loose!!!!! UNREAL!!!!!
