Its pretty rare that I feel so connected to and excited about a mainstream Hollywood film. And while it does contain some of the worst faux pas of its genre (trite one-lines that try overly hard to be deep and LOTS of predictable dialogue), it still had something that resonated with me. Deeply. On my way out of the cinema, I overheard a womans scornful commentary, Well THAT turned into a gay rights movie!! My often conservative but always compassionate Christian mother had been to see the film with me and when I told her about the womans comment, her response was perfect. No, she said.
