Its real simple: Large groups of people are neither mostly good - TopicsExpress

Its real simple: Large groups of people are neither mostly good nor mostly bad, but individuals sure can be either. All police departments and citizens should judge individuals on their own merits, or lack thereof, not entire groups. Shame on some of the *individual* officers for stooping to their group-think us verses them mentality. Instead of those *individual police officers who see their department or group as a *mostly* a group of heroes (who are well paid with high salaries, raises, insurance, pensions, etc.) they should be proud to call out more of the thugs within their group, if *some* of them want us to unthinkingly see their entire group as our heroes. I have not heroes, because Ive seen too many of the so-called best and brightest individual policemen, politicians and soldiers commit some of the worse Teabilly Hypocrisy against their own citizens. Sure, there is plenty of good even among some of those, but I weigh the good and the bad on their own merits within each individual. Judge not, less you be judge is just one of many ridiculous bromides found in ancient holy books, because the moment we can walk and crawl we need to judge our environment, and who is good for us and who is bad for us. Judgement, or if we prefer, discernment is instinctual and biologically necessary. The honest slogan for all of us who seek higher ethics should always be: Judge, and prepared to be judged. That includes our good qualities as well as our faults and failures, and hopefully with judgement born of knowledge, intelligence and understanding of both the weaknesses and strengths each of us share universally within the human family.
