Its relatively easier to talk extempore at Red Fort before the local audience, as rhetoric may go well on the domestic soil. BUT that may not be the case in the UN General Assembly. It requires a great deal of courage and an unimaginable level of preparation and professionalism to deviate from the prepared script and still make the desired impact.... BECAUSE one is not talking as an individual, but as a Nation; AND there is an independent (and sometimes even the hostile) global media to observe and draw inferences out of each of your words... In this scenario, yesterdays speech of the Honble Indian PM stands apart as one of the iconic public speeches by any of the world leaders.
