Its sad that so many people feel small and apart from the universe. They feel separate from me and you, and from the sky and the earth. They worry that they are alone, somehow different or unworthy. They sense a deep divide, a grand division, souls across a chasm. The culprit is not lack of love or intelligence, it is poor perception, a narrowed view chopping up reality into small acts and bits and pieces, a habit of singling out difficult moments from the great stream and never putting them in perspective, back into the positive flow of life. The breakthrough will be this: to realize one is not separate from the universe but in reality of and as the universe. As the plant bears fruit, the universe bears people; our molecules are the finite thrust of the infinite. Just as each grape on the vine is unique, it is still from the same source, still connected to others, still part of the whole of its origin. Only an external conscious hand or the final saga of maturity and death pulls the grape from the vine, yanking it from its natural place or releasing it back to its mother Earth. So it is with us. We alone yank ourselves from the whole. The only real separateness from one another comes from perception or from death, though even in death we but return to the universe, to the whole, to the infinite that birthed us.
