Its sad when you look back at history and see that during WWII the VW Beetle that weighed 1625 lbs. (autoevolution/engine/volkswagen-beetle-1945-12-30-hp.html ) was getting 36-40 mpg. And with almost 70 yrs. of technological advances we can barely surpass that with cars with similar weights like the Smart car for two at 1808 lbs. ( mirageforum/forum/showthread.php/266-12-lightest-cars-in-the-US-2014-%28vs-Mitsubishi-Mirage-1973-lbs-curb-weight%29 ). Now tell me that that type of technology hasnt been suppressed!
