Its short-sighted of our politicians to shoot down public transport projects when we are predicted to grow another million people in the foreseeable future. What CAN be also predicted is that EMPLOYERS will hear I dont want to live where there is gridlock and no easy way to get around so pay me a lot more money if you want me in Nashville... and employers will take their companies elsewhere or well pay double for infrastructure we should have payed for now. Ask Spring Hill how much fun backfilling infrastructure behind growth is. We need politicians with vision (Bredesen, Haslam, investors...not for the quarter managers...)
